My Birthday + 30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 6

It's my birthday today!  But in my family, we don't celebrate until the weekend (unless your b-day is on a Monday or Tuesday, we celebrate the weekend before). We'll be going out to dinner tomorrow with some of my family and celebrating with the entire family this coming Sunday.

Today's challenge is to draw my favorite book character that isn't in a movie. This was so tough! When you think about your favorite characters, they are always movie characters... at least for me. Well, in my case I think about Harry Potter characters and clearly those have been made into movie characters, so I can't choose them! My second problem with this is every time I'm asked what my favorite books are, I freeze up and forget every book I've read except for the obvious popular books.

Then I thought... do graphic novels/sorta comics count? Sure they do! I drew Noa from the Sky Doll series. This is based off a photo, but I didn't trace it or anything.

I actually really love how it came out. The Sky Doll series is very beautifully drawn and written. I definitely suggest them! You may be able to find them at comic book stores or eBay.
I love Noa because she's different from all the other Sky Doll's. She's well aware with what she's programmed to do, but she knows that she's destined for more. She's spunky, funny, beautiful, and sweet.

Recent Purchases: Pre-Birthday Buys!

Most people around my age still get money for their birthday (no more clothes and toys) and we all love to spend that birthday money on something big or sometimes we save it. I wanted to buy something before I get that birthday money. What is it? Something I first talked about months ago! A bag for summer/Wisconsin!

I previously blogged about my need for a summer bag that could fit many things inside. I settled that around this time in June I would buy on of the purses above. Did I? Well, sort of. I bought this bag-

As you can see, it's not exactly the third purse, but it's from the same line. I hadn't seen this one while searching the purses back then because this was in the "Tote" section instead of overnight section. This tote is larger than the one pictured with the two purses. In addition to being larger, it was significantly cheaper because it was on sale. This purse, with shipping and a $5 off Birthday Coupon, was $25.15! Not bad for a big, cute purse! I'll be sure to review it once it comes next week.

I bought this Whiskers & Tales Vinylmation from someone on Vinylmation Exchange. I only bought it yesterday, but I thought I'd include it anyway. It was only $6! I only need her to finish off the one's I want from the Whiskers & Tales series. Luckily I got 4 of the ones I wanted from the BOGO so I only needed to get her. I wasn't going to take my chances in buying another blox and getting a duplicate or one I didn't want (like Lambert or Tito) so I figured I would find someone on Vinylmation Exchange who was selling her for cheap. I saw most people selling her for $9 but a few selling her for $6. I chose the first person I saw selling her for $6.

I also bought this cute ring. I remember seeing these being sold at Sanrio but they only had one character, Tuxedo Sam. I didn't want a Tuxedo Sam ring so I bought my things and left. I decided to look up the rings on eBay and lo and behold they had the My Melody ring! So adorable

Well, that's all for now. Expect more "Recent Purchases" posts in the coming weeks. I might (emphasis on the might) go to the mall this Saturday, so stay tuned!

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 5

Today's drawing challenge is to draw my best friend. I don't have one specific best friend... I have two. I didn't want to draw two people (I'm terrible), so I chose the friend I knew for the longest!

I've known her since my first year in high school... probably within the first month, since we shared Computer class with her (I think I was the only one who found that class helpful!). She's probably the sweetest person I know! She's incredibly intelligent and funny!

I think from now on I'll just be using the basic Bamboo app and the more fancy one. Turns out the fancy one is basically just for creating backgrounds! Also, I like the basic one because of their pencil brushes.
I'm planning on trying out watercolors or colored pencils one of these days when I come across a challenge that peaks my interest!

I will be back later in the afternoon posting a "Recent Purchases"

Recent Purchases: More Vinylmations!

I know I've been posting nonstop about Vinylmations and I'm so sorry! But I just had to post about the amazing deal I got at the Disney Store on Friday. I went there looking to possibly trade and buy cheap $2.99 vinyls. I realized I didn't want any of the vinyls on sale and there was nothing good in the trade box. I went to the clearance section and behind some Spooky 2 Goofy and Pluto vinyls I found a single box with the Brave set for $7.99! I had seen a few weeks ago that these were on sale but I decided to buy something else instead. I immediately purchased it (along with an Animation 3 blox) and the sales lady told me it wasn't $7.99, it was $2.99! What an amazing deal for something that used to be $39.95!

I got an Animation 3 blox hoping to get Stitch, Pascal, or a Card Guard but I got Mowgli :( I'm not too bummed, I do like The Jungle Book! I'll buy a couple more boxes another time.

Edit: I don't usually do this, but I posted this right after another post. I haven't done any "real" posts in a while, so I will be posting some posts after (sometimes before) my drawing challenge of the day.

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 4

Today's drawing challenge is to draw my Favorite Place. I thought for a minute, wondering what it was. I was thinking about places I've traveled (not many places) and realized that I loved the time I was in Florida and I was happiest (seriously) when I was there. I didn't want to draw the state itself, so what was my favorite place there?

Walt Disney World! As happy as I was in all locations in Florida, including Universal Studios, I have never been as happy as I was in Walt Disney World (specifically, Magic Kingdom). The whole environment and how happy everyone was and how happy I was made this my favorite place in the world. I've only been once, but still! I want to go again!

As for the drawing, I have found another Bamboo app that has fancy brushes and stuff, but it's very difficult to work! Until I figure it out, basic doodles! Sorry it's so light! I also ran out of room! I'll try to do better next time or find a second replacement sketch thing.

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 3

Today's challenge is to draw my favorite food. This was pretty difficult. While playing around on my tablet, I was drawing different foods, trying to figure out what my favorite food was. When asked (this is a question one is asked a lot in their lifetime) what my favorite food is, I usually say soup. So I went with that! But what kind of soup?

Tomato Bisque Soup! Now if any of you have eaten tomato soup, you may be grossed out- but tomato BISQUE soup is wonderful! I've tried it from several different restaurants and I've loved each and every one (specifically, my favorite has been a vegan tomato bisque from a restaurant in Chicago!).
I spent a bit more time on this drawing. I even added background color and shading (still no blending, though)! Also, I promise my handwriting isn't that horrible. It's more difficult writing with a tablet.

30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 2

Today's 30 Day Drawing Challenge is "Favorite Animal". I had a hard time picking what my favorite animal was. I love most animals, but if I really had to choose, I would pick a teacup pig (or any pig in general). They are just so adorable and little and I could go on all day talking about them. I have yet to actually see a pig in recent years (I did when I was young) so I'm hoping to go to a petting zoo this year!
Here is my Day 2 drawing of a teacup pig:

You can always click on the photos to see them larger~

Not bad, not bad. It's based off that famous photo of a teacup pig in rain boots. I drew this using that same Bamboo Tablet App. I'm hoping I can find something better to use since I can't even shade or blend or have layers with this app.
